Doctor Krápula

Born in Bogotá in the late 1990s, the Colombian band Doctor Krápula is part of the Latin American rock scene, blending ska, punk rock, reggae and popular rhythms from Latin America. Formed around singer Mario Muñoz with a core of five musicians, Doctor Krápula builds its identity on Spanish-language lyrics that address social critique, politics and environmental issues in a direct, festive aesthetic. The group first drew attention on Bogotá's alternative stages before establishing itself in Spanish-language rock circuits in Colombia and later in Mexico, Central America and Europe, notably through regular festival appearances such as Rock al Parque. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s Doctor Krápula broadened its musical spectrum by incorporating cumbia, traditional ska, touches of hip-hop and Caribbean music, while maintaining a militant dimension at the heart of its artistic project. The members frequently collaborate with other engaged Latin American acts and take part in cultural and collective initiatives defending the environment and human rights, anchoring the band in a network of musicians and organizations close to the region's social movements.
