Faze Action
Formed around brothers Simon and Robin Lee, Faze Action took shape in England in the mid-1990s, with roots in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and quickly anchored itself in the London scene. The duo developed an approach to dance music that blends house, disco, funk, jazz, and Latin or pan-African influences, with a strong taste for melodic arrangements and songwriting that is more organic than strictly club-oriented. After the Original Disco Motion EP in 1995, Faze Action drew notice with the single In the Trees in 1996, then released the album Plans and Designs in 1997 on Nuphonic. Subsequent releases included Moving Cities in 1999, Stratus Energy in 2009, and Body of One in 2014, illustrating Faze Action's evolution toward a smooth synthesis of deep house, contemporary disco and soul textures. Alongside their productions, Faze Action has also signed numerous remixes for artists from pop, jazz and Afro music, while keeping their tracks alive on stage in a format that can extend to an extended band. The name Faze Action remains associated with a DJ practice nourished by disco and house cultures, in a warm, rhythmic and open-to-hybrids register.
