David Ramirez
Born in Houston in 1983 and based in Austin, David Ramirez fits within an American thread that intersects Americana, contemporary folk, country-folk, blues and, at times, gospel. He began releasing music independently with American Soil in 2009, followed by Apologies in 2012, before expanding his audience with Fables in 2015, recorded in Seattle with Noah Gundersen. His songwriting—often focused on doubt, relationships and moral tension—relies on a deep voice and a restrained delivery, never overdone. Ramirez continued with We’re Not Going Anywhere in 2017, produced by Sam Kassirer in Maine, then shifted his approach on My Love Is a Hurricane in 2020, where the folk base opened up to broader arrangements. In 2018 he also participated in the collective project Glorietta alongside several Texas and American songwriters. With Backslider in 2021, Ramirez explored the gospel legacy more directly, before releasing Rules & Regulations in 2022 and All The Not So Gentle Reminders in 2025, extending a trajectory between roots tradition and introspective songwriting.
