Active on the Bulgarian pop scene since the mid-2010s, DARA first gained national attention by taking part in X Factor Bulgaria in 2015. Born Darina Yotova in 1998 in Varna, Bulgaria, she was quickly signed by the Virginia Records label, with which she developed a series of singles rather than following the traditional album format. Her debut single, “K’vo ne chu,” released in 2016, established a highly rhythmic pop aesthetic shaped by R&B, dance and trap influences that remain central to her musical identity. DARA alternates between Bulgarian and English lyrics, favors melodic choruses delivered with a slightly husky voice, and regularly inserts spoken or rapped passages over dense electronic productions. Over subsequent releases, the singer has refined a club- and radio-oriented register while maintaining a clear rooting in contemporary Eastern European pop. Frequently appearing on television shows and at festivals in Bulgaria, DARA also multiplies collaborations with other local artists and producers, sustaining a steady output of singles and videos and progressively consolidating her place within the new generation of Bulgarian pop.
