Crashdiet
Formed in Stockholm in the early 2000s around singer Dave Lepard, Crashdïet is part of the Swedish revival of sleaze rock and glam metal, with a sound that mixes melodic hard rock, choruses rooted in the 1980s and a grittier energy drawn from punk. Their debut album, Rest in Sleaze (2005), established this aesthetic with incisive guitars, straightforward rhythms and street-glam imagery. After Dave Lepard's death in 2006, Crashdïet continued despite several changes of vocalist, a trajectory that has left a lasting mark on the band's history. The Unattractive Revolution appeared in 2007, followed by Generation Wild in 2010—where the songwriting retained a catchy heavy rock core—then The Savage Playground in 2013, Rust in 2019 and Automaton in 2022. Across line-up changes, guitarist Martin Sweet has remained the main throughline of Crashdïet. Active on European hard rock and metal stages since their beginnings, Crashdïet has developed a repertoire focused on nervous glam metal, with driving tempos, prominent solos and instantly accessible melodies.
