Carolina Wallin Pérez

Born in Mellerud, Sweden, in 1982, Carolina Wallin Pérez develops a repertoire at the crossroads of Swedish pop, vocal jazz and chanson, with an approach often austere and focused on interpretation. After a first recording appearance in 2005 on Monster & Maskiner's 'I Won’t Stay', she emerges more widely toward the end of the 2000s, initially spotted online before publishing Pärlor och svin in 2009, an album of covers of Kent songs rearranged in a spare jazz-pop aesthetic. She continues in 2012 with Där vi en gång var, this time composed of original pieces, where her writing and personal universe take more space, in a format still marked by melodic arrangements and restrained expression. In the same year, she participates in Melodifestivalen with 'Sanningen'. Her third album, Innan jag dör vill jag leva igen, appears in 2018 and extends this line between Scandinavian pop, introspective chanson and soul-jazz nuances. Throughout her career she alternates author-performer projects, covers and occasional collaborations, while remaining associated with a Swedish scene where singer-songwriter pop meets jazz singing traditions.
