Colour Haze
Formed in Munich in 1994, Colour Haze is part of the German psychedelic rock scene at the intersection of stoner rock, space rock and melodic progressive rock. Initially marked by a heavy, repetitive sound on Chopping Machine (1995), Seven (1998) and Periscope (1999), Colour Haze gradually shifted their writing toward more airy, nuanced compositions in which Stefan Koglek’s guitars unfold into long instrumental passages supported by a flexible rhythm section and, more recently, more prominent keyboards. This evolution is evident on Tempel (2006), All (2008), She Said (2012), To The Highest Gods We Know (2014), In Her Garden (2017), We Are (2019) and Sacred (2022). Through line‑up changes, Colour Haze stabilized as a quartet made up of Stefan Koglek, Manfred Merwald, Mario Oberpucher and Jan Faszbender. Long present on European rock and psych stages, Colour Haze has also released several live recordings, including Live Vol.1 - Europa Tournee 2015 (2016), which extend on stage a performance grounded in duration, dynamic variation and restrained improvisation.
