Colin Blunstone

Born in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England in 1945, Colin Blunstone established himself by the mid-1960s as the voice of The Zombies, a British group straddling beat, psychedelic pop, rock and baroque pop, with a supple, hushed vocal that contrasted with the era’s more frontal energy. After the band split in 1968, Blunstone embarked on a solo career, briefly under the name Neil MacArthur and then under his own name with One Year (1971), followed by Ennismore (1972) and Journey (1974) — records where orchestral pop, string arrangements and a distinctly British melodic songwriting took centre stage. His discography continued with Planes (1977), Never Even Thought (1978), Late Nights in Soho (1979), Echo Bridge (1995), The Light Inside (1998), The Ghost of You and Me (2009) and On the Air Tonight (2012). Concurrently he has frequently collaborated with Rod Argent, both in Zombies-related projects and on stage, and lent his voice to several Alan Parsons Project albums between 1978 and 1985, notably on “Old and Wise.” Since the 2000s Blunstone has split his time between his solo career and the sustained return of The Zombies, with whom he continues to perform.
