Jyotirmayee Nayak

Born in Rourkela, in the Indian state of Odisha, and then settled in Bhubaneswar, Jyotirmayee Nayak develops very early a practice of singing nourished by training in Hindustani classical music with Buddhi Prasad Rao and then Debendra Satpathy. Her trajectory first anchors in devotional repertoire and Odia song, before widening to playback music for regional cinema. After a notable appearance on The Voice of Odisha Junior, Jyotirmayee Nayak recorded for the Odia film Ishq Puni Thare in 2018, notably with the tracks 'Rakhithibu Saaiti Kari' and 'Tora Udi Gala', which establish her voice in the Ollwood landscape. She then continues a path between film songs, Indian pop and melodic repertoire, with an interpretation marked by a supple, expressive singing and very centered on the vocal line. Parallel to her singing career, Jyotirmayee Nayak trained in music therapy in 2023 in Chennai and works with cancer patients in Bhubaneswar, an aspect documented of her activity. In 2026, Jyotirmayee Nayak wins Indian Idol season 16, after having already participated earlier in Indian Idol Junior, confirming an evolution built between national television stages and the Odia music industry.
