Delhi 2 Dublin

Formed in Vancouver in 2006, Delhi 2 Dublin brings Tarun Nayar, Sanjay Seran and Ravi Binning together around a hybrid approach in which bhangra dialogues with electronic music, dub, reggae, hip-hop, funk and Celtic-inspired elements. The project began initially for a single performance as part of Vancouver's CelticFest, with a formulation that already fused South Asian rhythms, Punjabi singing, and a Celtic-inspired violin. Through personnel changes, Delhi 2 Dublin evolves this cross-pollination toward a more dancefloor-oriented sound, while keeping the use of tabla, dhol and dholak as anchor points. The band's discography includes Delhi 2 Dublin (2008), Delhi 2 Dublin: Remixed (2009), Planet Electric (2010), Planet: Electrified (Remixes) (2011), Turn Up the Stereo (2012), Delhi 2 Dublin: Live (2014), We’re All Desi (2015) and We Got This (2019). Several musicians have accompanied this trajectory, among them Kytami, Oliver Schroer, Andrew Kim, Serena Eades and James Wallace. On stage as in the studio, Delhi 2 Dublin develops fusion music centered on the exchange between South Asian traditions, club culture and acoustic instrumentation, with lyrics sung in Punjabi and then increasingly in English on recent productions.
