Nigel Godrich

Born in Westminster, London, Nigel Godrich has since the 1990s established himself as a producer, sound engineer, musician and DJ, in a field that links alternative rock, experimental pop and electronic music. Trained at London's RAK Studios under John Leckie, Godrich first contributed to Radiohead's The Bends in 1995 before co-producing OK Computer in 1997, a turning point in a lasting collaboration that has continued across their entire subsequent studio discography, from Kid A (2000) to A Moon Shaped Pool (2016). His work is distinguished by a keen sense of detail, dense textures, sober balances and an approach that marries melodic clarity with sonic exploration. In parallel, Nigel Godrich has produced or mixed Beck albums, including Mutations (1998), Sea Change (2002) and The Information (2006), Travis' The Man Who (1999) and The Invisible Band (2001), as well as Pavement, Air, Paul McCartney, R.E.M., Roger Waters, Arcade Fire, Idles and The Smile. As a musician, he has accompanied Thom Yorke with Atoms for Peace, for which he produced Amok in 2013, and he also develops a more electronic facet with the trio Ultraísta, formed with Joey Waronker and Laura Bettinson, author of the albums Ultraísta (2012) and Sister (2020). Nigel Godrich is also the originator of the From the Basement series, devoted to in-studio live recordings.
