Dirk Scheele

Born in Blaricum, the Netherlands, in 1972, Dirk Scheele has since the early 1990s developed work focused on music for young children, in a register that blends Dutch song, light pop, rock and touches of blues. Trained in music therapy in Baarn, he began by writing songs in a professional setting for children, before expanding this repertoire to the stage, television, and video productions. Dirk Scheele builds his performances around themes close to everyday life, with a participatory approach designed for children aged 2 to 8. His career later expanded through programs broadcast on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., musical performances, as well as projects related to the Dikkie Dik universe in collaboration with illustrator Jet Boeke. His discography notably includes Huis-, tuin- en keukenliedjes, Pepernotenpret, In Holland staat een huis and In de Jungle, published in 2021. In 2018, his universe also gave rise to the film Op stap met Dirk Scheele, produced by De Film. Always active on stage and online, Dirk Scheele also pursues radio projects and collaborations in the field of children's music, including work with StoryZoo started in 2024.
