Blechschaden
Founded in Munich in 1985 by Bob Ross, Blechschaden brings together brass players from the Münchner Philharmoniker within a brass ensemble anchored in the German tradition yet open to broader repertoires. The formation works a register that ranges from classical music to swing arrangements, entertainment and rock, as well as blasmusik, with a concert approach often infused with humor. Blechschaden has built itself on this circulation between the exigencies of the orchestra and lighter formats, giving the ensemble a stage identity that is immediately legible, based on collective virtuosity and play across styles. Over the years, the group has released several records, among them 10 Jahre Blechschaden (1995), Swingin’ Philharmonic Brass and Brassomania (1998), Best of Blechschaden – Live (2001), Blechschaden in Blech (2002), Kulturvollzugsanstalt (2004), Also brass Zarathustra (2009), Up! Frack Prämie (2010) and Weihnachten mit Blechschaden (2015). Blechschaden thus evolves at the crossroads of brass concerts, ensemble shows and arranged repertoire, in a collective format that remains linked to Munich’s musical life.
