Gystere
Born in Paris in 1980, Adrien Boris Peskine, under the name Gystere, develops a musical project at the crossroads of funk, contemporary R&B, progressive rock, rap and a psychedelic pop with Afro-futurist accents. Active since the mid-1990s, he first participated in the rap group FRER 200, then joined Disto TV in the early 2000s, before forming the duo McLuvin with producer Drixxxé in 2010, in a register blending alternative hip-hop, electro, rock and pop. As a solo artist, Gystere builds a universe where keyboards, syncopated grooves, spoken word, soulful refrains and darker textures coexist, often sung in English. His first album A Little Story was released in 2020, notably featuring the tracks Womxn, Time Machine and Strange breathin’; Another Story followed in 2022, with Esperanza Spalding contributing. Alongside his records, Gystere pursues significant visual work as a music video director and videographer, and presents his Gystere Show on stage, notably at the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes in 2019. His career also includes DJing, composing for audiovisual works and playing as a musician on other projects, which highlights the very transversal nature of his work.
