Butelka
Formed in Toruń, Poland in 1996 around Grzegorz 'McButelka' Kopcewicz, Butelka evolves at the crossroads of heavy metal, thrash, sludge and a rugged rock marked by direct refrains and a satirical tone. The band starts with musicians connected to the local scene, notably those who had passed through Kobranocka and OK’Laski, then releases its first self-titled album in 1998, issued in 1999 by Black Bottle Records. Through lineup changes, Butelka hardens its sound and sharpens a more overt metal writing on Radio dla Polaków in 2005, then on DemonArchia in 2008, a record that accompanies a period of strong live activity in Poland, between rock- and metal festivals such as Hunter Fest, Jarocin or Wacken Metal Battle. Butelka's aesthetics rest on thick riffs, a heavy rhythm and compositions that blend thrash energy, sludge tension and the Polish rock heritage, with Polish lyrics often centered on social, political and religious satire. Butelka's discography also includes Diabeł z powyłamywanymi rogami (2012) and Szpun ’N’ Roll (2017), in continuity with a path rooted in the country's alternative and metal scenes.
