Jim Witter
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Jim Witter begins performing on stage at a very young age by singing and playing piano, before emerging in the 1990s on the Canadian country scene. His repertoire blends contemporary country, country-pop and piano-centered songwriting, with a direct melodic style and accessible arrangements. After his self-titled debut album released in 1993 on FRE Records, Jim Witter scored several singles in the Canadian country Top 10, including Everything and More, Distant Drum, Stolen Moments, Sweet Sweet Poison and Chevy Coupe. He followed with All My Life in 1999 on Curb Records, in a smoother, more radio-friendly country vein, notably propelled by the tracks All My Life, Jumpin’ Right In, Tough as a Pickup Truck and One Beat at a Time. In the early 2000s, Witter shifted his career toward contemporary Christian music with the Forgiveness album, released in 2003, without losing his fondness for pop formats and piano ballads. Alongside his recording career, Witter also established himself on stage with The Piano Men, a show devoted to the repertoires of Billy Joel and Elton John, highlighting his profile as singer-pianist and his familiarity with a broader range than country alone.
