Amigos

Born in Brazil as part of a TV Globo special program launched in 1995, Amigos brings together several major sertanejo voices around Chitãozinho & Xororó, Leandro & Leonardo, and later, after Leandro's death in 1998, Leonardo alongside Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano. Conceived as a collective project rather than a stable group, Amigos sits in the tradition of 1990s popular sertanejo music, between romantic ballads, rodeo songs, and covers of the Brazilian rural repertoire. The early television performances, aired from 1995 to 1998, gave rise to the albums Amigos - Vol. 1 (1996), Amigos - Vol. 2 (1997), Amigos - Vol. 3 (1998) and Amigos - Vol. 4 (1999), built on alternating full-formation performances, partner exchanges and guest appearances. Relaunched in 2019 with the Amigos 20 Anos: A História Continua tour, the project hit the road again in the country’s major venues and stadiums, with a repertoire centered on the members' classics and a new recording, A História Continua - Ao Vivo em São Paulo (2019). Amigos thus remains tied to a form of collective show typical of Brazilian sertanejo, at the crossroads of the concert, the music show and the gathering of already well-established repertoires.
