Shakhtyor

Formed in Hamburg in 2009, Shakhtyor has since its beginnings developed instrumental music at the crossroads of doom metal, sludge, black metal and death metal, with psychedelic passages, hypnotic grooves and ambient textures that clearly widen the scope of the genre. Conceived as a trio, the band quickly moves away from a strictly doom approach to work on long, dynamic and contrasted compositions, where changes in dynamics play a central role. Shakhtyor thus builds a dense, progressive sound, nourished as much by the heaviness of the riffs as by more airy or abrasive sequences. After a first self-titled album, the band continues this trajectory with Tunguska, then Simulacron, the third album which marks a tighter writing without abandoning the breadth of its instrumental developments. Recorded like its predecessors at Tonmeisterei Studio, Simulacron extends this search for balance between impact, atmosphere and formal freedom. Over the years, Shakhtyor has established itself in the European heavy and experimental scenes with an identity that resists clean borders between extreme metal, post-metal and psychedelic rock.
