Worthitpurchase

Based in Los Angeles, Worthitpurchase brings together Nicole Rowe and Omar Akrouche around a two-voice writing approach that emerged in 2019, when the two musicians were working as sound engineers at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco. The project developed as a shared space where each extends the other's ideas, in a duo format that favors layered songs, between spontaneity, collage and home-studio work. Worthitpurchase operates at a crossroads of indie rock, lo-fi, bedroom pop and gentle experimentation, with guitars tinted by the 1990s, hushed rhythms, intimate vocals and a strong attention to textures that evoke the early days of digital culture and a form of suburban nostalgia. Their aesthetics, oriented toward the intermediate zones of daily life and the imaginary of dial-up culture, refined through several releases, culminating in a third self-titled album released in 2023, presented as a recomposition step for the duo. The track "Postcard" extends this direction with intimate writing, clear guitars and a deliberately fragile grain. Worthitpurchase thus develops a discreet and artisanal music, shaped by recording, assembling and the dialogue between Nicole Rowe and Omar Akrouche.
