Aleksandra Słyż

Based in Poland, Aleksandra Słyż develops work positioned between contemporary music, electroacoustic and experimental composition, with particular attention to the perception of time, the timbral relations between acoustic and synthetic sounds, and microtonal tuning systems. Her music circulates both in the concert field, installations and festivals dedicated to hybrid sound forms, and has been presented in contexts such as Rewire in The Hague, CTM and MaerzMusik in Berlin, Unsound in Krakow, Warsaw Autumn, hcmf// in Huddersfield or the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Alice Tully Hall in New York. Aleksandra Słyż's pieces have also been performed by European ensembles and orchestras such as the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta, Sinfonietta Cracovia, the Orchestra of Futurist Noise Intoners or Spółdzielnia Muzyczna. In 2025, Aleksandra Słyż is invited by the Warsaw Museum of Modern Art and the Wapping Project in London to create new works for the historic instruments of the Polish Radio Experimental Studio, left unused for more than twenty years and never played in concert. This experience nourishes Ruiny, an artistic research project focused on traces of the past, sound heritages, memory and the reactivation of histories left on the margins.
