Bonnacons of Doom

Bonnacons of Doom brings together a masked collective formed between Manchester and the north of England, active on the edge of psychedelic, experimental rock, drone, and ritual music. The project drew attention in the mid-2010s with a dense, repetitive approach built on heavy guitars, insistent percussion, electronic textures, and a voice that draws as much on incantation as on singing. Bonnacons of Doom develops a dark, hypnotic aesthetic, nourished by spectral folk, krautrock, noise, and industrial atmospheres, without settling into a single register. After several early short formats, the collective released the album Bonnacons of Doom in 2018 on Rocket Recordings, followed by Signs in 2023, a record that extends this work on trance and saturation while giving more space to digital textures and to contrasts between organic pulsation and electronic processing. On stage, Bonnacons of Doom maintains this collective and ceremonial dimension, with emphasis on the mask, repetition, and a continuous tension between rock matter and sonic abstraction.
