Darko's Aufhebung

Formed in Aix-en-Provence, Darko’s Aufhebung develops a shoegaze sound nourished by alternative rock, grunge, post-rock and gothic tinges, in a trio format that favors contrasts between sonic density and more restrained passages. The project began to reveal its first discographic landmarks in the early 2020s with Spread Whispers Into Blazing Dawns, released in 2022, where Darko’s Aufhebung establishes an universe traversed by vaporous guitars, psychedelic textures and contemplative melancholy. With Loud Attempts for the Relieving of Death, released in 2025, the group emphasizes a more frontal approach to shoegaze, around a thick wall of sound, with occasionally irregular rhythmic lines and a constant tension between saturation, slowness and suspension. Darko’s Aufhebung thus cohabits abrasive sonic matter with moments of calmer introspection, in a register where one finds as much the heritage of atmospheric rock as that of a more emotional and dreamy writing. On stage, Darko’s Aufhebung translates this aesthetic into immersive concerts, built on progression, repetition and the relief of dynamics.
