Lemondaze

Formed in Cambridge, Lemondaze evolves into a quartet in a register that crosses shoegaze, post-rock, grunge and touches of breakbeat, with a marked taste for contrasts between dense guitars, expansive rhythms and vocals often subdued. The band emerged in the early 2020s on the British alternative scene and quickly developed an identity rooted in melodic saturation, emotional tension and structures that are more direct than those of the most contemplative shoegaze. Their first EP, Celestial Bodies, was released in 2021 and laid the foundations of this aesthetic, nourished as much by hazy textures as by a rougher energy. Lemondaze subsequently shared billing with bands such as bdrmm, Just Mustard, Ride or deathcrash, placing the group within an indie/noise network undergoing a reconfiguration in the United Kingdom. In 2024, Lemondaze began a new phase with Subtext, recorded between London and Brighton and produced and mixed by Matt Glasbey. This return confirms a tighter writing, where post-rock and pop influences coexist with a still massive sound, without losing the atmospheric character that threads through Lemondaze's tracks.
