Jamz Supernova

Born in New Cross and raised in southeast London, Jamz Supernova, real name Jamilla Walters, operates across DJing, radio and artist development. Active since the early 2010s, she first gained recognition on Reprezent Radio in Brixton before launching a show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, then joining BBC Radio 6 Music in 2021. Her career sits within British scenes tied to Black music and club cultures, with a selection that blends bass music, funky, grime, hip-hop, jersey club and global sounds, in an open approach but anchored in the urban dynamics of the United Kingdom. Jamz Supernova also hosted Selector Radio for the British Council between 2020 and 2023, broadcasting internationally a panorama of contemporary British music creation. Parallel to her broadcasting work, she founded the Future Bounce label in 2018, focusing on scouting and developing new projects. Present in clubs as well as festivals in the UK and Europe, Jamz Supernova develops a precise and mobile DJ style, where percussive rhythms, bass textures and cross-genre circulation occupy a central place.
