JB Hanak
Born in 1977 in Maisons-Alfort, Jean-Baptiste Hanak has since the early 2000s developed a career at the crossroads of electronic music, noise rock, music for image, and more experimental forms. With his brother Frédéric, he founded dDamage, a duo active until 2018, whose aesthetics mix techno, hip-hop, punk, ambient, and noise, on stages in France, Europe, the United States, and Japan. In parallel, JB Hanak pursues a solo project under the name Dash, begun with Alien Folk Trash in 2003 and continued with Hyperactive Jerk in 2014, in a more lo‑fi vein, between indie rock, sound collage, and personal writing. His career also includes the hard rock group Cobra between 2013 and 2017, as well as the contemporary music ensemble Sleaze Art around Kasper T. Toeplitz, with the albums Infra and Infra-Blast, both released in 2015. JB Hanak also composes for cinema, from Tu seras sumo in 2013 to The Open in 2016, then for Une dernière fois in 2020, and in 2021 he signs the music for the trailer of the game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge with Mike Patton on vocals. Under his own name or under JB Hanak, he coexists rhythmic tension, abrasive textures, deviant melodies, and a taste for cross-disciplinary formats.
