Christer Sjögren
Born in Hagfors, in Värmland, Sweden, Christer Sjögren began his career on the local scene in the 1960s, first as an organist and then as a singer with Jupiters, before joining Pelles in 1968 as bassist and vocalist. His voice belongs to the Scandinavian dansband tradition, with a repertoire spanning schlager, orchestral pop, sentimental ballads and touches of rock’n’roll. Sjögren became the central figure in Vikingarna from 1978, after Stefan Borsch's departure, and took part in the group's long-running period, notably with the 1979 album Kramgoa låtar 7 - Djingis Khan. At the same time he pursued a solo career marked by several complementary directions: religious songs with Andliga sånger (1989) and Andliga sånger 2 (1993); Christmas albums such as När ljusen ska tändas därhemma (1994) and Ett julkort från förr (2000); and tribute albums reflecting his affinities with Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, including Love Me Tender (2005), King Creole (2006) and Christer Sjögren sjunger Sinatra (2014). He also appeared on stage in The Sound of Music in 1997, and at Melodifestivalen in 2008 with "I Love Europe" and in 2012 alongside Lotta Engberg on "Don't Let Me Down".
