Abaddon

Born in Bydgoszcz, Poland, Abaddon is part of the first Polish hardcore punk wave of the early 1980s, with a direct, tense and fast sound, close to the most frontal punk while keeping dark and concise lyrics. Formed in 1982 under the name Partyzantka Miejska before adopting the name Abaddon, the band first drew attention in 1983 at the Jarocin festival, a central meeting point of the Polish alternative scene, then returned in subsequent editions and also played in Róbrege. After a singer change, Waldek 'Kiki' Jędyczowski replaced Mirosław 'Wolf' Wolf and accompanied the band's most active period. Abaddon recorded the track 'Kto?' for the Fala compilation in 1985, then went to Yugoslavia to play, where the band recorded material for Wet za wet, released in 1986 by New Wave Records, before a later Polish edition. Split in 1987, Abaddon reformed in 2001 around Kiki and drummer Tomasz 'Perełka' Dorn with new musicians, resumed concerts in Poland, traveled to Berlin, Vienna and the United States, and released Godzina krzywd in 2004. The band's activity paused again in 2005. Abaddon remains attached to the history of punk in Bydgoszcz and to exchanges between underground scenes in Central and Eastern Europe.
