Proletaryat

Born in Pabianice, Poland, Proletaryat was formed in 1987 around Tomasz Olejnik, Dariusz Kacprzak, Jarosław Siemienowicz and Robert Szymański, in a context where Polish rock crossed the energy of punk and harder forms from hard rock and heavy metal. By the late 1980s, Proletaryat established itself on the local scene and then at the Jarocin festival, an important hub of Polish alternative rock, before releasing the cassette Revolt in 1989. The band then followed with several albums that fixed its sonic identity, between massive guitars, direct singing and taut writing, with Proletariat in 1990, Proletaryat in 1991, Czarne Szeregi in 1993, IV in 1994 and Zuum in 1996. Over the years Proletaryat underwent several lineup changes, while maintaining a core led by Olejnik and Kacprzak, and continued to evolve in a heavy, frontal and melodic rock register. The rest of its discography includes notably Made in U.S.A. in 1999, ReC and Recycling in 2006, Prawda in 2010, Oko za oko in 2015 and Ząb za ząb in 2023. Accustomed to halls and festivals in Poland, Proletaryat remains associated with a compact aesthetic, between punk tension, metal riffs and classic rock structure.
