Keith Duffy

Born in Donaghmede, in the north of Dublin, Keith Duffy first made his mark in the British and Irish pop scene with Boyzone, the group formed in 1993 with Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham and Stephen Gately. In this lineup focused on a boy-band pop blending melodic choruses, variety, and soft rock touches, Keith Duffy mainly played the role of the ensemble’s performer, before in the early 2000s pursuing a more dispersed path between music, television and comedy. He then recorded the project Keith ’N’ Shane with Shane Lynch, and for several years alternated between Boyzone tours, relaunched from 2008, and an acting career, notably in the series Coronation Street and Fair City. From 2016, Duffy returned more directly to the pop stage with Boyzlife, a duo shared with Brian McFadden, former member of Westlife, in a repertoire built around covers, 1990s–2000s pop standards, and new songs in an adult-pop vein. Among verifiable discographic milestones are Boyzlife’s Strings Attached album in 2020 and Old School in 2022. Between the legacy of mainstream Irish pop, regular live activity and appearances on various TV formats, Keith Duffy has maintained a trajectory tied to the anglophone pop culture of the 1990s and its on-stage continuations.
