Strange Devotion

Formed in Melbourne, Strange Devotion brings together five musicians around a repertoire that sits between dream-pop, post-punk and indie rock, with an aesthetic carried by guitars and synths with hazy textures, very prominent bass lines, mixed vocals and rhythms that borrow as much from krautrock as from a more direct writing. Strange Devotion develops a sound that is both melodic and tense, where the choruses stay sober and where atmosphere counts as much as rhythmic momentum. The band began to gain recognition with its early tracks released online and performed on stage in the Australian independent scene. Their first EP, A Demonstration of Devotion, was released in March 2025 and gathers the first songs written together, documenting the foundations of the project and its balance between post-punk coldness, dreamy sweetness and group energy. Strange Devotion thus sits in a vein that crosses dark pop, discreet motorik and lo-fi romance, without straying from a compact song format.
