Iceland

Formed in the Paris region in the late 1990s, Iceland developed a heavy metal and power metal style, marked by a clear taste for melodic guitars, punchy rhythms, and vocals rooted in a traditional metal lineage. The band built its reputation on the French scene through sustained live activity before an initial hiatus, followed by a comeback initiated in 2021. Iceland released a self-titled album, Iceland, first issued in 2002 and later reissued in 2023, which brought back into circulation a record that had become hard to find. This revival was accompanied by a new lineup, notably the arrival of Bastien on guitar and Matthieu on drums, and a regular return to the stage at metal festivals and venues dedicated to the genre. In 2025, Iceland added to its discography the EP Legacy, extending the band's aesthetic between traditional heavy metal, speed-influenced edges, and a more direct approach inherited from the French scene of the 1990s. Active between studio and live performance, Iceland today places its journey in the continuity of a band that has returned to the foreground without altering its original identity.
