Arnaud Fournier
Active on the French independent scene since the early 1990s, Arnaud Fournier has developed a career that traverses post-hardcore, noisy rock, electronics and experimental forms. Co-founder of HINT in 1993, then La Phaze in 1999, Dead Hippies in 2013 and Atonalist in 2017, Fournier has long placed his work within collective projects where abrasive guitars, tense rhythms, electronic textures and a taste for contrasts intersect. His solo project took shape in 2020 during a residency at La Friche Antre-Peaux in Bourges, in the context of lockdown, with a first performance streamed online before public concerts from 2021. Alone on stage, he builds instrumental music that blends guitar, brass, samples and sound processing in a very physical approach to sound, oscillating between noise masses, repetitive motifs, atmospheric moods and a search for relief. In 2024, he releases '100% Black Puzzle', an 8-minute-40 piece accompanied by a video by Jacques Perconte, echoing HINT's '100% White Puzzle.' His first solo album, announced for 2025 on the label Ici d'Ailleurs, extends this trajectory by inviting notably Herman Düne, Frédéric D. Oberland and Hervé Thomas.
