Humble Humans

Under the name Humble Humans, Jonathan Meur is developing a chamber pop project driven by intimate writing, careful arrangements and a marked taste for acoustic forms as well as for more orchestral detours. Franco-Mauritian, he grew up in Mauritius before spending around fifteen years in Singapore, where he began a significant part of his journey as a singer-songwriter, published several tracks and performed on stages in the region, as well as in Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Having settled in France since 2018, Jonathan Meur then adopts the name Humble Humans and pursues a music positioned between chamber pop, folk, piano-voice and indie touches, with particular attention paid to vocal textures and arrangements. His first project under this name takes the form of the soundtrack to the animated short Et chaque nuit, released in 2020. In 2021, the singles Dancefloor with Friends, Shit Done, Envoie Valser and Recipe for Disaster broaden his range toward more direct forms, without breaking with his melodic writing. The EP SOFT, released in 2022, gathers alternative versions that circulate Humble Humans between jazz, light funk, orchestrated folk and leaner interpretations. Since 2023, the project has also developed into a live-band format.
