Ellis Slater & the Nightshift

Based in London, Ellis Slater restarts his career after the post-Covid period by writing and recording alone a first set of songs before reforming The Night Shift around him. The project takes the form of a rock band with punk and power-pop edges, with a pronounced taste for direct choruses, tense guitars and a writing that slips in references and more discreet details beneath a very immediate surface. Ellis Slater & the Nightshift thus develop an energetic, melodic sound with no rigidity of style, where the urgency of punk crosses a more pop approach to composition. Their first album, All Is Fair in Love, War and the Mundane, sheds light on this dynamic by tackling themes related to adulthood, identity, friendships, mortality and the place one seeks in an unstable daily life. Behind a tone often lively and a certain sense of humor, Ellis Slater & the Nightshift push a personal writing, born from a moment of writer's block transformed into a new collective momentum on stage and in the studio.
