Chima Isaaro

Based in Lisbon, Chima Isaaro, formerly active under the name Chimahiro, develops a DJ practice focused on the interplay between various club-music traditions and Afro-diasporic music. Her sets move by sliding between house, techno, disco, soul, batida and touches of jazz, with a marked attention to groove, syncopated rhythms and melodic transitions that avoid sharp stylistic borders. Having played stages in Lisbon, Brussels and Milan, Chima Isaaro draws on a background as a crate-digger and dancer that informs a very physical reading of the dancefloor.
