Q2K

Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Q2K, the stage name of Nqobile Sigudla, is developing a solo project at the crossroads of pop, dance, electronic music, house, alternative rap and disco. Q2K’s trajectory is rooted in a club-culture aesthetic where danceable rhythms meet more sensual, frontal or introspective lines, with a marked taste for contrasts between tension and lightness. Among the reference points that shape this universe, the influence of the underground ballroom scene of the 1980s and 1990s holds an important place, particularly the legacy of voguing carried by queer communities, which Q2K reinterprets in a contemporary writing. This approach fuels music in which masculinity and femininity, reserve and assertion, organic textures and more synthetic materials coexist. Anchored in scenes close to the club and the night, Q2K thus fashions a hybrid sonic identity conceived as much for movement as for self-expression.
