Formed in France in 2008 by Jérémie Ternoy, Ivann Cruz and Peter Orins, TOC occupies the intersection of improvised jazz, experimental rock and an energy close to noise and post-rock. The trio, built around a Fender Rhodes, electric guitar and drums, develops dense music that is at times repetitive and then abruptly jagged, where hypnotic motifs sit alongside ruptures, rising tension and a very direct physicality. TOC operates within the orbit of the experimental scene linked to Muzzix and Circum-Disc, with a marked taste for open forms and stylistic shifts between free jazz, psychedelia, krautrock and skewed pop. Over the years TOC has cultivated this language in concert as well as on record, notably with Qeqertarsuatsiaat (2015), Air Bump (2016) and The Theory Of Constraints (2024). The group's trajectory also includes collaborations with musicians such as Dave Rempis, Paulina Owczarek and Jean-Luc Guionnet, extending a collective practice rooted in improvisation, listening and the constant transformation of material.
