Elaine Malone
Born in Limerick and active on Cork’s DIY scene for more than ten years, Elaine Malone creates a songwriting practice that sits between psych‑rock, dark folk, shoegaze textures and a country heritage, with background touchstones ranging from 1990s grunge to The Velvet Underground and Lee Hazlewood. A multi‑instrumentalist, she shapes her songs from guitar, bass, percussion and harmonium in arrangements that are often slow, enveloping and punctuated by more abrasive climaxes. Her first EP, Land, was released in 2018 and laid the groundwork for a universe where narrative plays a central role, with songs that blend stripped‑down folk, electric tension and careful work on sonic space. Over the course of her releases, Elaine Malone has moved this material toward a broader form of psychedelic rock, while retaining an artisanal approach rooted in Ireland’s independent circuits. Between introspection, restrained saturation and stretched melodies, Elaine Malone develops a solo format that is both precise in composition and open to the frictions of live performance.
