The Codas

Based in Kingston, Ontario, The Codas have been developing since their formation in 2019 a repertoire positioned between alternative folk, indie rock and Americana. The Codas belong to the Canadian indie scene with songwriting focused on personal narratives, carried by three-part harmonies and arrangements where acoustic textures intersect with more electric surges. Their aesthetic remains restrained and melodic, with particular attention to the voices, instrumental nuances and a form of restraint that gives the tracks an intimate, direct character. The band's emergence has centered on this hybrid identity—folk in the emphasis on storytelling and timbre, rock in the songs' dynamics, and Americana in certain arrangement hues. The Codas move their music across several neighboring registers without tipping into pure revivalism, maintaining a contemporary approach to independent songcraft.
