Tennyson King

Between Hong Kong and Canada, Tennyson King develops a singer-songwriter project that bridges North American indie folk with sounds drawn from traditional Chinese music. His writing is built around an acoustic folk format, often spare, where melodies remain central while leaving space for textural and arrangement work that broadens the genre’s usual scope. Tennyson King has shaped his career through mobility, moving between different territories and scenes, which fosters an aesthetic both intimate and open to cultural intersections. Over the years he has made a mark on the independent folk scene through regular performances, an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, and tours or shared bills with artists such as Aysanabee and Lindi Ortega. His music thus follows a clear line between contemporary folk, indie pop, and Asian heritage, with a constant focus on songcraft, timbre and storytelling.
