Bulldoze

Formed in Irvington, New Jersey, Bulldoze emerged in 1992 as the continuation of the thrash metal band Retribution, featuring George Puda, Zack Thorne, Mike Milewski and Chris Golas, soon joined on vocals by Kevin “Kevone” Cea. Bulldoze developed a heavy, deliberately slowed hardcore sound, strongly marked by metal riffs, massive grooves, breakdowns and a street-level energy tied to the New Jersey and New York scene of the early 1990s. This approach, often associated with the beginnings of beatdown hardcore, took shape on the demo Cleaning Shit Up!! (1993), the EP Remember Who’s Strong (1994) and the album The Final Beatdown (1996), whose title helped cement the genre’s vocabulary. After an initial split in the mid-1990s, Bulldoze reformed in 2010 and reappeared on bills such as This Is Hardcore, FYA Fest and Black N’ Blue Bowl. Since Kevone’s death in 2022, George Puda has handled the vocals at the band’s performances. Remaining faithful to a dry, heavy and direct sound, Bulldoze retains a distinctive place in the history of American hardcore.
