Carlton Melton

Formed in 2008 in northern California, Carlton Melton brings together Rich Millman, Andy Duvall, Clint Golden and Anthony Taibi as a quartet focused on largely instrumental psychedelic rock. Their sound sits at the crossroads of space rock, experimental rock, drone and repetitive structures close to krautrock. Carlton Melton has developed within an independent framework, alternating self-releases and editions on labels such as Agitated Records, Blackest Rainbow, God Unknown Records and their own Mid-to-Late Records. The group's discography includes Pass It On (2010), Handling Snakes (2012), Photos of Photos (2013), Out To Sea (2015) and Mind Minerals (2016), milestones in a trajectory dominated by long pieces, slow progressions, improvisation and textural work. On stage they expand these compositions into a more open format, with collective playing built on loops, layers of guitar and a flexible rhythmic foundation. Carlton Melton has also toured regularly in Europe and the UK, appearing at festivals such as Roadburn, Supersonic, Desertfest and the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia.
