Ceremony East Coast
Ceremony East Coast brings together Sandra Fedowitz and John Fedowitz in an American duo positioned at the crossroads of shoegaze, noise rock and taut post‑punk. Their sound features droning basslines, feedback‑soaked distorted guitars, a prominent, upfront drum sound and vocals that favour urgency over polish. Sandra and John have played together since 2017, but Ceremony East Coast continues a longer trajectory: John Fedowitz launched Ceremony in 2005 after the breakup of Skywave, a band active in the US shoegaze scene of the 1990s. That lineage appears in his other projects as well, notably Static Daydream with Paul Baker, while ties to Oliver Ackermann extend through A Place to Bury Strangers. In 2020 Sandra and John joined A Place to Bury Strangers as its rhythm section. Both live and in the studio, Ceremony East Coast favours a raw, high‑contrast sonic palette where melody remains present beneath the distortion and crash.
