KALAC

From Dinan in Brittany, KALAC builds a taut, immersive psychedelic rock where the power-trio format provides a direct footing for tracks that are constantly on the move. Shoegaze guitars create thick, circular layers while the rhythm section borrows both from krautrock’s repetition and the climactic swells of neo-psychedelia. Sung in French—sometimes ethereal, sometimes more upfront—the vocals add a sensitive dimension to music that advances through accelerations, sound densification and shifts in intensity. Not content with a purely contemplative approach, KALAC seeks a balance between inner vertigo and physical impact, with compositions that can at times evoke DIIV or Minami Deutsch while remaining rooted in a francophone identity. Active on the independent scene, KALAC is developing a coherent universe at the crossroads of psych rock, shoegaze and motorik forms, where repetition serves progression and movement rather than pure hypnosis.
