Coldharbourstores

Formed in London in 1998 around David Read and Michael McCabe, Coldharbourstores has, since the late 1990s, placed its music at the intersection of ambient pop, dream pop and atmospheric rock. The band's lineup has evolved — with Daniel Bowling and later Lucy Castro on vocals, and Samuel R. Laws followed by Liam Greany on drums — and they compose slow, airy pieces that blend pop melodies, muted guitars and misty atmospheres. After More Than The Other (2002) on Rocketgirl, Coldharbourstores released Chamber Music: James Joyce (1907). 1-36. in 2008 on Fire Records, extending an interest in musical settings of James Joyce that the group revisited in the Waywords and Meansigns project around Finnegans Wake in 2017. Their trajectory also includes work with Graham Sutton, Bark Psychosis, Fuxa and the writer Scott Heim. Coldharbourstores later returned with Wilderness (2017), Vesta (2019), Dearly Devoted (2020) and Coldharbourstores Remixed (2022), continuing a dreamy, textured and restrained aesthetic.
