Séamus Óg

Rooted in a family musical heritage and strong Irish roots, Séamus Óg develops a contemporary folk in which traditional forms converse with more intimate songwriting. Séamus Óg plays guitar and cittern, a ten‑stringed instrument whose clear, layered resonances give his repertoire a distinctive color. His debut album, Best Masala Tea (2018), established the foundations of a pared‑down sound, followed by Terry’s Síbín (2022) and Haul The Pots (2025), which expanded the palette toward more elaborate arrangements. Now presented as a trio, Séamus Óg is joined by cello and double bass, reinforcing the melodic focus and rhythmic flexibility of his compositions. His career has also placed him on bills with artists such as Brìghde Chaimbeul, Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet and Chris Brain, in a register where acoustic folk remains informed by the memory of Irish traditions without merely reproducing them.
