Shakkalo

Between a Franco‑Polish heritage and writing in English, Shakkalo develops a project on the border between folk and electro‑pop, with songs built around a gentle melancholy, airy textures and a restrained delivery. Her choice of English, which she uses to voice emotions that are harder to express otherwise, occupies a central place in Shakkalo’s identity. Her background is not solely musical: first involved in physical theatre, she has evolved that stage experience into work on composition and imagery where gesture, the body and visual storytelling remain important. This continuity can be seen in Shakkalo’s videos, conceived as extensions of her songs, with a dreamlike universe she shapes in a highly personal way — from costume to visual direction to editing. In both her tracks and her images, Shakkalo reveals affinities with a sensitive, pared‑down writing style, nourished in particular by references such as Ben Howard, Pomme, MARO or Aurora, without being reduced to them.
