DJ OBI

Born in Lagos in 1985 as Obinna Levi Ajuonuma, DJ Obi grew up between Lagos and Imo State before studying broadcasting and communications in the United States, where he began DJing during his years at Worcester State University. He returned to Nigeria in 2012 to dedicate himself fully to his work as a DJ. DJ Obi embraces an open club aesthetic at the intersection of urban music and the exchanges between Nigerian and international repertoires, with a focus on selection, rhythm and the energy of the dancefloor. As the official DJ of the Syndik8 Records label, he also developed Obi’s House, a platform and series of events that extends his presence in Lagos’s nightlife. His career has taken him to stages such as the MOBO Awards and the MTV Africa Music Awards. DJ Obi won Best World DJ at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2011 and was nominated in 2016 for the Future Awards Africa in the Creative Professional category.
