Lipstick Music

Born in Brussels from the meeting of Lili Molli Shina and DJ Kit, Lipstick Music develops a taut electronic pop built around thick bass lines, dry rhythms and Lili Molli Shina’s vocals. The project took shape recently as a continuation of DJ Kit’s trajectory — he was formerly a member of Planet 1999, a group associated with PC Music — and immediately situates itself where melodic pop intersects rougher textures and a fairly frontal approach to sound. At Lipstick Music the writing remains direct: short songs, clear choruses and production that favors impact over accumulation, balancing pop efficiency, club electronics and a rawer sensibility. This aesthetic owes as much to DJ Kit’s precise arrangements as to Lili Molli Shina’s vocal presence, which gives Lipstick Music an identity simple in form yet dense in contrast.
