The Sinclairs

Born in the United Kingdom from the collaboration of two longtime accomplices — drummer Rat Scabies, formerly of The Damned, and Billy Shinbone, known for his work with Flipron and alongside Neville Staple — The Sinclairs were assembled remotely, via file exchanges and long conversations, before occasionally expanding the project to include other musicians and guests. Initially conceived in 2019 as a playground for instrumental surf‑rock, The Sinclairs quickly shifted their focus toward more psychedelic songwriting, where electronic textures, imaginary soundtrack atmospheres and warped melodies intersect. On Sparkle, released in 2020, the duo established the foundations of a floating universe that is both home‑made and precise, situated between psych‑pop, garage rock and off‑kilter atmospheres. Their subsequent work broadened the palette further with guest vocalists and a marked taste for contrast — from nervous rhythms to colder or more muted passages, with touches of orchestral pop and late‑night song. The Sinclairs thus remain rooted in an independent English rock culture while deliberately operating in a fluid register that resists easy categorization.
